Success Story: Alison’s Journey to Independence

Alison’s journey with Community Living Kirkland Lake is a wonderful example of what determination, perseverance, and the right supports can achieve.

Throughout her time with CLKL, Alison has overcome many personal obstacles while continually working toward her goal of greater independence. With encouragement from her support team and her own willingness to learn, she has developed valuable life skills that have transformed her daily life.

Today, Alison proudly lives on her own in an apartment at Community Living Kirkland Lake’s Apartment Complex. Living independently is an accomplishment she has worked hard to achieve, and she continues to grow in confidence every day.

Alison has become independent in completing many of the tasks that come with maintaining her own home. She is able to clean her apartment, complete her laundry, and take pride in keeping her living space organized. She is also learning to cook, expanding her skills in the kitchen and gaining confidence in preparing her own meals.

Each new skill Alison masters is another step toward achieving her goals and living the life she chooses. Her positive attitude, resilience, and determination continue to inspire everyone around her.
