Respite Care Program
Respite Care Program
At Community Living Kirkland Lake, we recognize that sustaining a supportive, healthy home environment requires balance. Our Respite Care Program is designed to provide a purposeful, temporary break for both individuals with intellectual disabilities and their dedicated families. By offering a supportive pause in regular caregiving routines, this program helps strengthen family dynamics and promotes well-being for everyone involved.
The Benefits of Respite Support
Respite care offers valuable benefits tailored to the unique wellness and accessibility needs of our program participants and their families:
For the Individual: It provides a refreshing change of pace, an opportunity to experience new environments, and a chance to build confidence and social connections outside the immediate family circle.
For the Family: It delivers vital, restorative relief for primary caregivers, helping to prevent burnout, reduce daily stress, and ensure long term family stability.
How the Program Works
To give families maximum flexibility and control over their support system, our Respite Care Program operates on a self-directed model. We assist families through the following framework:
Financial and Administrative Assistance: Community Living Kirkland Lake provides the necessary administrative guidance and financial support structures to help families fund their care intervals.
Independent Contracting: Rather than assigning agency staff, families employ their own preferred respite contractors. This ensures that the chosen support worker is a perfect personal match for the individual’s specific accessibility needs and routine.
