Volunteer Opportunities

Buddies

A volunteer is matched with an individual based on their specific needs, abilities and interests. By doing so the volunteer encourages social relationships and broadens the individual’s experiences simply be being a friend and spending time with them. Giving your time and experiences can make life for an individual with a disability a little more enjoyable.

Every Thursday evening individuals participate in Venture Night which is a popular gathering where individuals participate in activities, such as, Bingo, crafts, music and games followed by a snack. Volunteers who participate help with activity set ups, activity assistance, clean up, etc.

Occasionally a driver will be needed to transport individuals to visit other residential program or on special outings. A driver’s abstract is required in order to volunteer as a driver.

Volunteers spend time one-one-one with individuals within our residential homes or assist in residential group activities and/or outings.

As with other non-profit agencies, there is a need for recognition and awareness in the community. Volunteers are needed to participate in events held by the Agency that fundraise and promote a positive community outlook toward acceptance and inclusion of individuals with a developmental disability. CLKL’s most  popular public relations event is our annual Christmas Parade float.

The individuals that we support love the warm interaction they receive when someone is reading to them or playing music for them. There are evenings set aside in each home for such times of entertainment.

Volunteers with special skills or hobbies that are teachable to the individuals are welcome. Arrangements will be made on such occasions as Venture Night to share your talents.
